David B Thomas

Mr. Thomas has lived in Charleston all of his life. He joined Allen Guthrie & Thomas in 2000, after almost twenty years at another Charleston firm. David has been involved in a variety of different trials and litigations, including product liability, toxic tort, drug and medical device, professional malpractice, environmental and consumer class actions. He has acted as liaison counsel for a defense group in statewide pharmaceutical litigation and is currently active in a nationwide pharmaceutical MDL pending in West Virginia.

David has been on trial teams for cases in Mississippi and Delaware in addition to West Virginia. He has participated in three class action trials, two of which reached verdict. He has argued many appeals in both the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit and in the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia. He has been recognized as a “tier 1" litigator by Chambers & Partners since 2004, as one of the “Best Lawyers in America”, as a Benchmark Litigation Guide "Local Litigation Star" and as a West Virginia Super Lawyer, among others. He is a past member of the Product Liability Advisory Counsel and is currently a member of DRI and the International Association of Defense Counsel.

Mr. Thomas has been managing member of the firm since 2002.
